Obituary for Konya Leigh Baxter (McCall)

ALBA, TEXAS – Memorial services for Konya Leigh McCall Baxter, 50, of Quitman, is scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2018, at First Baptist Church, Alba, with Pastor Kelly Burton officiating.
The interment will be at the Floral Memory Gardens, 120 Old Pretoria Rd, Albany Georgia, at a later date.
Konya was tenderly placed in the loving arms of her parents, Kenneth Lee and Kay Jones McCall on October 25, 1967, in Albany, Georgia. After a long illness, their Beloved Daughter closed her eyes on this earth Monday, September 17, 2018, in her home in Quitman, and was delivered into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven.

Konya earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and later earned a Registered Nursing degree from the College of Nurses, affiliated with the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.

She was married to Darryl Baxter of Duncanville, and worked in the Arlington Hospital district. She later managed a Home Health Care facility in the DFW Metro.
She moved to the Quitman area in her early 40’s to be close to her retired parents. Konya was a member of First Baptist Church, Alba, and attended the Singles class when her health would allow.

Survivors include her parents, Ken and Kay McCall of Quitman; sister, Kimbrelee McCall Barnes of Alba/Golden; nephew, Colin McCall of Quitman; and grandmother, Alaouida Murphy. Included in her family is her very best friend and caregiver, Ruby Diane Alston of Quitman.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Kaylee Austin McCall; her husband, Darryl Baxter; her grandfather, Claude E. Jones; and her step-grandfather, Kenneth A. Murphy.
