James Meier

Mr. James Andrew Meier, 75, passed away Monday, September 11, 2023, at his residence in Sulphur Springs. He was born July 1, 1948, in Hammond, Indiana, to Andrew Francis and Catherine Carras Meier. He spent his younger years through middle school in Indiana, before moving to Texas and graduating from Sulphur Springs High School, class of 1966. In 1971, he graduated from ETSU (Texas A&M Commerce), majoring in Business Management and minoring in Drafting. That same year, on March 26, 1971, he married Linda Sue Johnson in Sulphur Springs. James retired as a manager for CVS Drug Store after 32 years of service. He loved fishing, hunting, and construction. Later in life, he enjoyed welding and making metal art. James was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, William Meier.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Linda Meier of Sulphur Springs; son, Jeremy Meier and wife Tina Smith-Meier of Cedar Park; brother, Robert Meier and wife Dian of Whitesboro; two sisters, Patricia Hulen and husband James of Quitman and Kathleen Cope of Leonard; four grandchildren, Alec Meier, Reid Meier, Riley Smith, and Connor Smith; and numerous other relatives and friends.
