Joseph Swindell

Graveside services for Joseph Roland Swindell, 94, of Boyd, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Alba, with Bro. Samuel Priddy officiating, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.

Mr. Swindell passed away April 1, 2024, in Decatur. He was born February 3, 1930, in Ft. Worth, to Thomas Clyde and Esther Lutie Long Swindell. On July 16, 1961, he married Shirley Elizabeth Pickle in Burleson. Roland had lived the last 45 years, in Boyd. He retired from Bell Helicopter after 33 years of service. He enjoyed farming, fishing, and camping. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, James Swindell, Tommy Joe Swindell, and Clyde Junior Swindell; two daughters, Brenda Swindell and Pamela Ann Alford.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Shirley Swindell of Boyd; son, Danny Dean and wife Vickie of Everman; three daughters, Sheryl McKay and husband Rick of Weatherford, Debbie Phillips of Haslet; and Rhonda Owen and husband Craig of Boyd; ten grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends 1:00 p.m. – 1:45 p.m., Saturday, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home.
