Sandy Akins

Services for Sandy Curtis Akins, 60, Fruitvale, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Friday, March 6, 2020, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Eddie Paul Stanley officiating.
Sandy was born July 6, 1959 to James and Odessa Campbell Curtis. She spent most of her life in Van Zandt County. In 2003, Sandy married Shane Akins in Ben Wheeler. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time at the lake fishing and camping with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her mother, Odessa Curtis; and her first husband, Kenneth Lewis.
Survivors include her husband, Shane Akins of Fruitvale; father, James Curtis of Fruitvale; son, Brian Lewis and wife Lorie of Alba; four daughters, Melanie Lewis of Frankston, Sheena Lively of Godley; Shae Petrusky and husband Stan of Canton; and Brittany Akins of Chandler; brother, Jimmy Ray Curtis of Grand Saline; three sisters, Teresa Curtis of Fruitvale, Vicky Cole of Athens, and Ginger Shehane of Conroe; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 2 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
