Bessie Ruth Alexander

Services for Bessie Ruth Bailey Alexander, 93, of Alba, are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home with Marlon Alexander and George Filpansick officiating.

Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Alba.

Mrs. Alexander passed away August 7, 2020, in Mineola. She was born March 30, 1927, in Alba to Walter Hubbard “Hub” and Carrie Angeline Hargrove Bailey. On March 15, 1947, she married Joe Delton Alexander. They were married for fifty-nine years, before his death in 2006. She had been a resident of Alba since 1951, and was a member of the Alba Church of Christ. Ruth was an epitome of a devoted minister’s wife, serving beside her husband at several churches before settling in Wieland Church of Christ in Greenville for forty years. She later was a faithful member of the Alba Church of Christ. She was also a devoted Mother, Memaw, great-grandmother, friend, caregiver, and everyone’s favorite cook. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Joe Delton Alexander; three brothers; three sisters; and two grandchildren, Alexander Clay Clanton and Julia Alexander.

Survivors include her son Marlon Alexander and wife Deanna of Alba; two daughters, Delbra Fazel and husband Sam of Alba and Denise Clanton and husband Garry of Quitman; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
