Services for Doris Allen 76, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2pm Sunday, May 20, 2012, at Roundflat Pentecostal Church with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating. Interment will follow in Creagleville Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline.
Mrs. Allen passed away on May 16, 2012 at her home in Grand Saline.
She was born to the late Lester & Mamie Ferguson Owen on February 24, 1936, in Childress, Texas. She married Buddy Allen on September 1, 1953, in Mentone, Texas. She spent most all her life in Grand Saline and had a “PHD in Motherhood.” She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Buddy Allen, 2 sons: Hersal Allen & Clayton Allen, 1 grandson: Casey Wheeler, 5 brothers & 1 sister.
Survivors include her son & daughter in-law Leonard & Angela Allen of Broaddus; 2 daughters & sons in-law Elaine & Roland Wheeler of Fruitvale, Zickie & Johnny Morris of Grand Saline; 1 daughter in-law Laurie Allen of Edgewood; 1 sister Arvalee Freeman of Humble; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Justin Wheeler, Jerrod Allen, Brandon Allen, Azren Watkins, Luke Lovvorn, Larry Heath and Allen Wheeler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roland Wheeler, Johnny Morris & Chris DeJarneatt, Steve Pruitt & Bobby Corley.
Visitation for Mrs. Allen will be held at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline on Saturday, May 19, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m.
