Earl Alvey
Memorial services for Earl Alvey, 69 of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Atkins and Don Latham officiating.
Mr. Alvey passed away May 4, 2012 at his home. He was born November 17, 1942 in Canton to John & Millie Josephine Gordon Alvey. He had lived in Grand Saline since 1955 where he was an ambulance driver and fireman for the Grand Saline Volunteer Fire Department for many years. He had also worked for John Teague Funeral Home, Napa Auto Parts, Ritchie Ford Dealership in Grand Saline, Skipper Moore Ford in Mineola, and Tyler Pipe for over 20 years. Mr. Alvey was an avid coffee drinker at Don’s Dairy Bar. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Sonny Alvey and sister, Patricia Morris.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Shirley Alvey of Grand Saline; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim & Tina Alvey of Lufkin and Tracy & Alice Alvey of Chandler; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Lottie & Boyce Carter of Brownwood and Betty Lou & Glen Hitt of Lindale; five grandchildren, Shawn Alvey and wife Brittany, Christina Alvey, Devin Alvey, Crystal Unger and husband Chris, and Joseph Hardy; two great-grandchildren, Kaydence Alvey and Timber Hardy; and numerous other relatives and friends.
