Alice Mooney Anthony, 95, passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2015 in Dallas, Texas. She was born on November 22, 1920 to John Henry and Daisy Mae West Mooney on their family farm near Atmore, Alabama. She graduated as salutatorian from Escambia County High School in 1937 and married the love of her life, John Robert Anthony Jr., on July 4, 1941 in Washington D.C. She attended the University of Texas, Louisville, and Alabama studying literature from 1942-45. After this time, she worked as a secretary to support her husband through his law and theology degrees. At the age of 64, she returned to college and earned an Associates Degree and began working in Real Estate. Alice was active in her church, was a skilled bridge player and loved completing cross-word puzzles. She was highly intelligent, kind, and was devoted to her husband. Her gentle spirit, quick wit, and devotion to those she loved will be deeply missed. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Bob, of 73 years. A memorial service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 2443 Abrams Road, Dallas, TX 75214 on January 3 at 2:00 pm.
