John Robert “Bob” Anthony, Jr. died on January 20, 2015. Known as “Tex” and “Judge” by his friends, Bob was born on February 27, 1918 in Fort Worth, Texas to John Robert and Kathrine (Shoults) Anthony. The son of a prominent attorney, Bob graduated from The University of Texas in 1938 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. Bob married the love of his life, Alice Ruth Mooney, on July 4, 1941 in Washington D.C. Bob served in the Army Air Force from 1942-1946 and following discharge, served 12 years in JAG in the Air Force Reserve. Bob returned to the University of Texas, obtained his law degree in 1952, ran a private practice for 3 years, and spent 10 yrs. in Government Contract Management. Bob graduated from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University in 1967 and was the founding pastor of St. Andrew United Methodist Church in Titusville Florida. He named the church and oversaw the construction of the original church buildings. Bob then returned to Texas working as a field attorney for the VA for 13 years. He spent the next 18 years as Associate Municipal Judge in the City of Dallas until his retirement in 2006. His wit, brilliance, and his devotion to those he loved will be missed by all. Bob is survived by Alice, his wife of 73 years, and his brother, Dr. James Anthony of Denton, TX. A memorial service will be held at Lakewood United Methodist Church, 2443 Abrams Road, Dallas, TX 75214 on January 23 at 10:30 am.
