Freda Jewel Askins
Graveside services for Freda Jewel Askins, 90 of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, February 22, 2013 at Oakwood Cemetery in Corsicana with Bro. Tom Pesnell officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Mrs. Askins passed away February 20, 2013 in Grand Saline. She was born December 3, 1922 in Blooming Grove. She lived in Dallas Co. before moving to Grand Saline in 1978 where she was a member of Main Street Baptist Church. She taught Sunday school for over 50 years. She was devoted to her church and loved to travel and was “the best cook”. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, King Huddleston and Dewey Askins; son, Jerry Huddleston; and sister, Mary Atkinson.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Ray and husband Steve of North Richland Hills, Teena Boyles and husband Ronnie of Grand Saline; step-son, Randy Askins and wife Ludi of Dallas; and two step-daughters, Cheryl McMurray of Lubbock, and Dina Bell and husband Ted of Spring; brother, C.R. Atkinson of Old Ocean; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
