Services for Joy Barnhart, 77, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery, Mineola.
Joy Jeannene Masterson Barnhart passed away February 24, 2024, in Grand Saline. She was born July 2, 1946, in Dallas, to Donald Joy “Indian” & Florence Evelyn Riley Masterson. She worked for the Dallas Police Dept. in her earlier years, where she met her husband, Jack “Barney” Barnhart. Joy spent most of her life in the Grand Saline area where she and Jack owned and operated Barney’s Pawn Shop (Mineola and Grand Saline) for many years. She served as a member of the board of directors for the Van Zandt County Children’s Shelter and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Wills Point, where she had served as the President of the Relief Society, the ladies’ organization of the church.
Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Indian & Florence Masterson; husband, Jack “Barney” Barnhart; infant son, Raymond Lee Dulin, Jr.; stepson, Gary Wayne Barnhart; stepdaughter, Shannon Faye Shaw; sisters, Jan Anderson, and Jo Marie Wise.
Survivors include four grandchildren, Amy Tesso and husband Angel of Grand Saline, Gary Wayne Barnhart II and wife Natalie of Denton, Joshua Shaw of Mesquite, and Luke Shaw of Mesquite; five great-grandchildren, Dallis Pippin, Dylan Allen, Gary Wayne Barnhart III, Arlo Barnhart, and Ophelia Barnhart; three great-great-grandchildren, Haven Pippin, Averi Pippin, and Loretta Allen; daughter-in-law, Tammy Lynn Barnhart of Denton; brother-in-law, John Wayne Wise of Grand Saline; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Angel Tesso, Dylan Allen, Joshua Shaw, Luke Shaw, and Dallis Pippin.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Thursday at the funeral home.
