Mr. Benny Nelson Hollowell, 87, of Grand Saline, passed away on July 31, 2026, in Tyler, Texas.
Benny was born on February 17, 1939, in Grand Saline to Arlie E. Hollowell and Ivy Green George Hollowell. He was a lifelong resident of Grand Saline, and a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church. He began his education at Sand Flat Baptist Church and graduated from Grand Saline High School with the Class of 1957. Benny served in the Texas National Guard and had ten months active duty at Ft. Polk, Louisiana, during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
On June 21, 1957, he married the love of his life, Lynda Kay Fisher, in Edgewood. Together they shared 69 years of marriage. Benny spent his entire life working the land, farming sweet potatoes and tomatoes. He proudly sold his produce locally and at the Dallas Farmers Market, where he was well known for his hard work and dedication.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Benny is survived by his beloved wife, Lynda Hollowell of Grand Saline; his son, Kyle Lane Hollowell and wife, Jacqueline, of McKinney; his daughter, Tammy Kay Herron and husband, Tommy, of Grand Saline; five grandchildren, Jason Hollowell and wife, Angela, Brandon Hollowell, Meghan Nations and husband, Layne, Kayleigh Hollowell, and Preston Hollowell; one great-granddaughter, Julia Hollowell; and numerous other relatives and friends who will cherish his memory.
