Billy Wayne LaPrade

Services for Billy Wayne LaPrade, 86, of Canton, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Billy Smith and Bro. Mack Swain officiating.

Interment will follow in Oakland Cemetery.

Mr. LaPrade passed away on September 21, 2026, in Grand Saline. He was born November 17, 1939, in Fruitvale, to William Terry and Pearl Lee Robinson LaPrade. Billy Wayne lived most all his life in Van Zandt County and was a member of Lawrence Springs Baptist Church in Fruitvale.

On October 3, 1959, Billy Wayne married the love of his life, Linda Lou Kinney in Oakland. Together they shared 66 years of marriage, raising their family and creating a lifetime of memories.

Billy Wayne was a heavy equipment operator and known for his custom hay baling. He was also a farmer and rancher, raising Charolais Cattle. He made many trips to the Farmers Market in Dallas. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Rondo LaPrade, Troyce LaPrade, and Larry LaPrade; and one sister, Lucille Tipps.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Linda LaPrade of Canton; two sons, Ricky LaPrade and wife Gloria of Canton and Danny LaPrade and wife Deloris of Grand Saline; three daughters, Carolyn Barnes and husband Jay of Grand Saline, Marilyn Thompson and husband Jimmy of Canton, and Sandra Denton and husband Gerald of Grand Saline; brother, Willie LaPrade of East Tawakoni; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Azalea Trail Nursing Home and their staff for their excellent care of Billy Wayne.

Pallbearers will be Ricky LaPrade, Jr., Kinney LaPrade, Kyle Thompson, Randy Denton, Tooter Fisher, and Tony Morgan.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Elliott, Roy Lee LaPrade, and Rusty Herron.
