Services for Dorothy Mae Boyles, 88, of Celeste, formerly of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. James Massey officiating.
Interment will follow in Creagleville Cemetery.
Dorothy passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family October 5, 2013. She was born July 1, 1925 in Grand Saline to Cora Goodman & Henry Malone. Dorothy married R.E. Boyles, Sr. May 17, 1941. She lived in Grand Saline for 75 years before moving to Celeste about 13 years ago. She was employed by Morton Salt Company in Grand Saline where she retired in 1986. She was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Grand Saline. After moving to Celeste, she attended Hickory Creek Baptist Church in Celeste. She was a devoted wife, a cherished mother and wonderful friend. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 56 years, R.E. Boyles; infant daughter, Judy Kay Boyles; two sons, R.E. (Paddy) Boyles, Jr.; and Freddy Boyles; four brothers and six sisters.
Dorothy is survived by one son, Jimmy Boyles of Celeste; one daughter, Joan O’Pry and husband Buster of Celeste; three grandsons, Kevin Brunson and wife Tracey of Greenville, Kenneth and Chris Boyles, both of Gladewater; one granddaughter, Kim Boyles of Quitman; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Kitchens of Grand Saline; one brother-in-law, William Boyles and wife Margaret of Grand Saline; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday at the funeral home.
