ALBA – The family of Ruth Andrews Bridges, 90, of Alba, has scheduled a graveside service for 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14, 2016, at Long Creek Cemetery, Sunnyvale, with Rosemary Solomon Edwards, Sunday School teacher for many years, officiating.
Mrs. Bridges passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016, in a Tyler hospital.
She was born June 18, 1925, in Dallas County to the late Mollier and Orpha Augusta Shipley Andrews. She spent her early years in Sunnyvale, 50 years in Oak Cliff, and the last 8 years in Alba. She was a member of House of Prayer in Emory.
Survivors include her sister, Peggy Olson of Ennis; special niece, Dorothy Wells of Seagoville; sister-in-law, Jackie Andrews of Sunnyvale; 2 grandchildren, Rhonda Sherwood and husband James of Alba, and Mike Shelton and wife Michelle of Mesquite; 6 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bob Bridges; daughter, Patsy Jean Shelton; 2 grandchildren, Shanda Ruth Wilson and Gary Wilson; sister Leona Compton; 4 brothers, G.W. Andrews, Donald Andrews, Bobby Andrews, and Doyle Andrews.
