Services for Loyd D. “Jim” Brown, 91, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Swaim and Jason Brown officiating.
Interment will be in Haven of Memories, Canton.
Mr. Brown passed away April 11, 2016, in a Quitman hospital. He was born September 15, 1924 in Fruitvale to Wade Chancellor & Della Mae Chaney Brown. He spent most of his life in the Fruitvale area and was a member of Lawrence Springs Baptist Church. He worked several years for Morton Salt and then worked and retired from the City of Dallas. After retirement, Jim moved back to Fruitvale and started his produce business where he has sold produce for the last 35 years. He enjoyed working with his cows and all of his produce customers over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 62 years, Loney Frances Brown; son, Loyd D. Brown Jr.; daughter, Peggy Nell Alexander; three brothers, Henry Brown, J.C. Brown and twin brother, Floyd E. “Sam” Brown; sister, Rosie Watson; grandson, Matthew Lee Kuykendall; and granddaughter, Kristi Cobb.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Deloris & Robert Littlejohn of Fruitvale; nine grandchildren, Charlene Ownby, Frances Hawkins, Charles Scott, Billy Alexander Jr., Kandy Rodriques, Dana Alexander, Joey Alexander, Julie Littlejohn Jones and Robert Loyd Littlejohn; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Marty Smith, Robert Loyd Littlejohn, Jason Brown, Joey Alexander, Floyd Brown Jr., Josh Kuykendall, Charles Scott and Billy Alexander Jr.
Honorary Pallbearer will be Robert Littlejohn, Sr. and Floyd Brown Sr.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at the funeral home.
