Cheryl Buffington

Mrs. Cheryl Lynn Smith Buffington, 79, of Alba, passed away March 22, 2025, in Tyler. She was born January 8, 1946, to Cecil Robert and Mary Lou Boerchett Smith. On May 30, 1964, she married Thomas Benton Buffington in Grapevine. She had recently moved from Rains County to the Alba area. Cheryl worked for the Rains County Sheriff’s Office for 27 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 51 years, Thomas B. Buffington; brother, Mike Smith; and granddaughter, Nikaela Bobo.

Survivors include her two sons, Shannon Buffington and wife Stephanie of Forney and Chris Buffington and wife Stephanie of Alba; daughter, Shawna Buffington of Emory; eight grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Cheryl’s family will have a memorial service honoring her at a later date.
