Ella Burns
ALBA – Graveside services for Ella Stone Burns, 82, of Alba, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2017, at Pilgrim Rest #2 Cemetery, Golden, under direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, with Chaplain David Hicks officiating.
Mrs. Burns passed away Friday, January 27, 2017, at her residence.
She was born May 20, 1934, in West Blocton, Alabama, to the late James Godfrey and Bessie Smith Stone. She married John William Burns on April 20, 1957, in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lived her early years in Alabama, Ohio, and Indiana. She had lived in Wood County since 1970. Ella was a seamstress and was a member of the Cottonwood Assembly of God.
Survivors include husband, of 60 years, John Burns of Alba; sons, Ricky Burns of Alba and John “Bill” and Anna Burns of Alba; step-son, John W. Hollaway and Carolina of Louisiana; daughter, Kathy and David Freeman of Yantis; brothers, C.W. Stone of Franklin, TN and James Godfrey & Betty Stone of Sieverville, TN; sister, Mary Inez and L.J. Hartley of Mineola; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeania Diane Burns; brother, James Hershell Stone; and sisters, Bo McSpadden, Louise Smith, and Arlene Black.
