Services for Mrs. Billie Maxine Busby, 83 of Alba, formerly of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Homer Morgan officiating.
Interment will follow in Creagleville Cemetery.
Mrs. Busby passed away June 4, 2014 in Canton. She was born March 23, 1931 in Murphy to Dib & Willie Hicks Hammers. She spent most of her life in the Mesquite area before moving to Grand Saline in 1982, where she was a member of Roundflat Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed her grandchildren and loved looking at pictures and reminiscing. She also enjoyed reading, music, collecting fruits and canning them. Mrs. Busby was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Henry Busby; and five siblings.
Survivors include two sons and daughter-in-law, Rickey Busby of Kemp and Darrell & Gwen Busby of Flint; three daughters and sons-in-law, Vicky & Rick Brewer of Kemp, Lynette Compton and fiance Kerry of Gun Barrel City and Deborah & Bobby Glover of Alba; two brothers, Roy Hammers and Davy Hammers, both of Dallas; sister, Jimmie Laverne Harris of Dallas; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Bobby Glover, Darrell Busby, Gary Allen, Nick Clark, Jesse Copeland and B.J. Glover.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Saturday at the funeral home.
