Mr. Robert “RedFred” Calder, 60, of Terrell, passed away December 11, 2024, at a care home in Kerens. He was born on March 17, 1964, in Dallas. RedFred was a proud and stubborn ole redneck who lived life on his own terms. He loved being a truckdriver, riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, enjoying Mexican food, and watching NASCAR - especially when his favorites, Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr., were racing. He loved the Lord and was devoted to serving others. He was passionate about helping the homeless and was actively involved in Forever Hope, a ministry at his church, Abundant Life Church, in Garland. RedFred was preceded in death by his mother, Judy Calder McDonald (1989); brother, Glenn Gray; grandparents, Lillie Kuykendall Calder, and Fred D. Calder; nephew, Gage Croyle; and father-in-law, Edgar Ray Brumit.
Survivors include his wife, Sheryl Calder of Terrell; father, Robert Gray of Paris; three daughters, Rianna Ashlynne Calder of Terrell, Marissa Calder of Terrell, and Jennifer Brumit-Sims and husband Michael of Fate; five brothers, Wayne Gray, Eddie Gray and wife Angela of Caddo Mills, Billy McDonald of Alba, Scott McDonald and wife Mary of Grand Saline, and Joe Bob McDonald and wife Amy; four sisters, Laura Wood and husband Jamie of Grand Saline, Dana Grisso and husband Joe of Electra, Margie White and husband Ronnie, and Dawn Taylor and husband Gary; two grandchildren, Aaron and Zane Sims of Fate; two nephews, Cory Ferguson, and Dillon Harris; two nieces, Andria Rowe, and Bailey Garner; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Calder’s memory to Forever Hope (Abundant Life Church) in Garland or any homeless shelter of your choice.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, December 21, 2024, at the Nazarene Chapel in Grand Saline, by his family and the church.
