In Loving Memory of Carrolyn J. Hettich

January 17, 1938 – October 8, 2026

Carrolyn J. (Marshall) Hettich was a devoted believer in Jesus Christ whose faith was the foundation of her life. She loved people, cherished her family, and found joy in caring for others. Her life was a testament to her love for the Lord and her desire to share His love with everyone she met.

Carrolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William F. Marshall and E. Bernice Marshall, and her brothers, Troy L. Marshall and Ronald W. Marshall.

She is survived by her two sons and their wives, Phillip L. Hettich, Jr. and Bobette, and Ronald L. Hettich and Margie; four grandchildren, Colter Hettich, Hunter Hettich, Samuel Hettich, and Anna Hettich; and nine great-grandchildren, who were all part of the family she loved so dearly.

Carrolyn loved being around people, especially her family. Some of the fondest memories her family will carry with them are the many hours spent playing dominoes, cards, and other games together. Those times were filled with laughter, friendly competition, and the simple joy of being together. And, of course, no one could cook a roast like Carrolyn! Her roast was so tender it practically melted in your mouth, and it was just one more way she showed her love for those gathered around her table.

After moving to Abilene in her 60s, Carrolyn continued to use her talents to serve others. She worked for many years as a beautician, cosmetologist, and massage therapist. Upon retiring from that work, she began a new chapter as a caregiver in the Texas Adult Foster Care program. Through this program, she opened her home and her heart to several women with special needs over the years, providing them with a loving home and compassionate care. Her willingness to care for others was a beautiful reflection of the love she had for people and her desire to make a difference in their lives.

Above all, Carrolyn wanted people to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. If she could write this obituary herself, she would undoubtedly make sure to ask one very important question:

“Do you know Jesus and have you accepted Him as your Lord and Savior?”

Carrolyn asked this question of everyone she knew because her greatest desire was for others to know the saving grace and love of Jesus. Her faith was not simply something she believed; it was something she shared openly and sincerely with others. Even the staff and caregivers of the Wisteria Retirement Community were asked this question by Carrolyn, and the family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to that community for their compassionate care and support.

While her family and friends will miss her dearly, they find comfort in knowing that Carrolyn is now home with the Savior she loved and served. We can picture her rejoicing in His presence, free from the struggles of this life, and experiencing the joy of being with Jesus.

Her love, her laughter, her delicious meals, the games she played with family, and, most of all, her unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Carrolyn’s life leaves us with one final reminder: life is precious, eternity is real, and there is no greater gift than knowing Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
