Services for Edith Marie Hunt Carter, 75, of Grand Prairie, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Rick Rumfelt officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter passed away May 12, 2018, at her home in Grand Prairie. She was born March 17, 1943, to Ollie Valentine & Helen Trussell Hunt in Deport, TX. She had lived in Mesquite for 21 years before moving to Grand Prairie 26 years ago. She was a wonderful mom, sister, friend, grandmother and so much more to so many, and never met a stranger. She was also an ordained minister and a talented singer. Edith was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Shanz; father, Ollie Hunt; stepfather, Co. Shanz; and two sisters, Shirley Rodgers and Merlyn Carnes.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Carter of Grand Prairie; son, Mike Duckworth and wife Sharon of Mesquite; daughter, Michelle Jeffries and husband Kevin of Corsicana; step-sons, Wayne Carter and Joseph Carter; ten grandchildren, Billie Waters, Tiffany Douthitt, Justin Hogg, Rex Duckworth, Chris Duckworth, Bryant Jeffries, Veronica Carter, Samuel Carter, Johnathon Carter and Rachell Carter; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Gilbert Wright, Chris Waters, Justin Hogg, Chris Duckworth, Kevin Jeffries and Rex Duckworth.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
