Services for James “Bill” Carter, 94, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Daniels and Bro. Billy Clyde Carter officiating.
Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery.
Mr. Carter passed away April 21, 2014 in Grand Saline. He was born August 5, 1919 in Pruitt to Daniel Boone & Bertie Guinn Carter. He served in the US Navy during WWII and worked for TXDOT as an assistant engineer. Bill was a lifelong resident of Van Zandt County and a Methodist. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy Morris Carter; son, John Edward Carter; three brothers, Leroy Carter, Robert “Bob” Carter and D.B. Carter; two sisters, Myrtie Griffin, Grace Loper Lewis; and great-granddaughter, Alexandra Nicole Fuselier.
Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jimmy & Ruby Carter of Alba and Tommy Carter of Ore City; six grandchildren, Brian Carter, Keri Carter Finley, Kellie Carter Murphy, Joshua Carter, Brandie and Jessica; ten great-grandchildren, Cleighton, Mason, Colt, Ethan, Hayden, Chandler, Reese, Carter, Gracie and Ruby; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Cleighton Schedule, Brian Carter, Joshua Carter, Wayne Sloan, Mason Schedule and Chandler.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
