Services for Nancy June Young Carter, 78, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Vaughn and Bro. Don Majors officiating.
Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery.
Mrs. Carter passed away April 18, 2018 at her home in Fruitvale. She was born September 26, 1939, in Dallas to C.C. "Bob" & Opal Louise Kirkland Young. She spent many years in Balch Springs before moving to Fruitvale 42 years ago. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fruitvale, Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Daughters of the Confederate Veterans. She retired as a nurse after 51 years, was passionate about genealogy and enjoyed writing poetry. She is preceded in death by her parents; Bob & Louise Young; sister, Linda Young Martin; and brother, Orval Henry.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Leland Carter of Fruitvale; son, Greg Carter and wife Myne of Fruitvale; daughter, Beverly Kroontje and husband Wallie of Fruitvale; sister, Joan Underwood and husband James of Rockwall; five grandchildren, Michael Dustin, Echo Carter, Byron Lawrence, Sherry DeWitt and William DeWitt; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Allen Martin, Byron Lawrence, Greg Carter, Trutis Carter, Mark Bryant and Leland Hill.
