Bettie Countryman

Services for Bettie Countryman, 88, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Thursday, October 12, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Pastor Kenneth Ishmael officiating.

Interment will follow in Mesquite City Cemetery, Mesquite.

Bettie Joyce Mixon Countryman passed away October 8, 2023, at her home in Grand Saline. She was born May 7, 1935, in Mesquite, to John Henry & Lucy Elizabeth Austin Mixon. She spent her early years in Mesquite and graduated from Mesquite High School, Class of 1953. She spent the last 44 years in Grand Saline and was a member of House of Grace in Edgewood. Bettie was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 67 years, Glyndon Countryman; three brothers, Raymond Mixon, Bobbie Mixon, and Hubert Mixon; and three sisters, Florine Sullivan, Gladys Rowe, and Jean McLeod.

Survivors include her two sons, Mike Countryman of Grand Saline, and Kevin Countryman and wife Misty of Grand Saline; two daughters, Connie Bowden and husband David of Mineola, and Donna Slavens and husband Buster of Grand Saline; ten grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Keith Slavens, Justin Slavens, Colby Countryman, Austin Countryman, Casey Davis, Les Lang, and Jared Mayne.

Honorary pallbearer is Chad Countryman.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at the funeral home.
