Funeral services for SSG Morgan Ray Davis, 30, of Colorado Springs, CO (Ft. Carson Army Base), are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, with Dr. David Christine officiating.

Full military honors will follow at Oakland Cemetery.

SSG Davis passed away December 19, 2021, in Colorado. He was born September 1, 1991, in Sulphur Springs. Morgan spent his early years in Fruitvale, where he served as Drum Major for their band and graduated from Fruitvale HS, the Valedictorian of the Class of 2009. He was also a member of Oakland Baptist Church. After high school, he moved to Denton to attend UNT. While at UNT, Morgan was a member of their music fraternity, Mu Phi, played trumpet in a Mariachi band, and graduated in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree from their College of Music. Prior to joining the Army, Morgan worked for Brook Mays Music Co. in Dallas. He entered the U.S. Army in 2014 and was trained as an Apache Helicopter mechanic. During his service, he spent 9 months in Germany, 1 year in Iraq, and the last year in Colorado Springs.

Mr. Davis is preceded in death by his grandfather, Jesse Lee Davis, and great-grandparents, Jimmy Abner Morgan, Jacqueline Harper Morgan, Grady Palmer King, and Sarah Loretta King.

Survivors include his wife, Chaela Davis of Colorado Springs, CO; parents, Clay Davis and wife Wendy of Grand Saline, and Christie Littlejohn and husband Robert of Fruitvale; son, Morgan Ray Davis, Jr. of Colorado Springs, CO; two daughters, Annie Maples and Elyssa Grace Davis of Colorado Springs, CO; three sisters, Amber Littlejohn of Grand Saline, Anna Holden of Grand Saline, and Meranda Littlejohn of Canton; grandparents, Ophelia Davis of Grand Saline, Michael & Sharon King of Whitehouse, Robert & Deloris Littlejohn of Fruitvale; in-laws, Tammy & Ronald Toles of Tyler and Darrell & Tracey Cheek of Henderson; sister-in-law, Natalie Lusk; and numerous other relatives and friends.

The U.S. Army, along with Timothy Stevens, SPC Rivas, CW3 Miscally, SFC Raker, SFC Young, and SPC Ochoa will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 3, 2022, at the funeral home.
