GRAND SALINE

Services for Douglas Dean Moffett, 94, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Terry Moffett and Bro. David Crain officiating.

Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery.

Mr. Moffett passed away June 21, 2026, in Grand Saline. He was born April 24, 1932, in Brackettville, to William Reginold and Elsie Mae (Douglass) Moffett.

He married Mary Elizabeth Holley on December 15, 1951, in Big Spring. He served in the United States Army Reserves, and in 1969 the family moved to Grand Saline. He was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.

Douglas was co-owner and mechanic of Moffett International Harvester Dealership in Petersburg, where he worked for many years. He also drove trucks for Ray Lowry Trucking, Western Commercial, and Tiona Trucklines, all based in Grand Saline. Later, he owned and operated his own hot shot trucking company.

Douglas is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Mary Elizabeth Holley Moffett; grandson, James Ray Moffett; four brothers, Billy Moffett, Glen Moffett, Jerry Moffett, and Donald Moffett; and two sisters, Mae Colley, and Bonnie Stanford.

Survivors include three sons, Jimmy Moffett and wife Pat of Dallas, Ricky Moffett and wife Pattie of Cedar Hill, and Travis Moffett of Golden; three daughters, Debbie Taylor and husband Tommy of Grand Saline, Judy Peoples and husband Tommy of Grand Saline, and Holly Jester and husband James of Quitman; three brothers, Danny Moffett of Ft. Worth, Terry Moffett and wife Wanda of Sylvester, and Larry Moffett and wife Kathy of Lubbock; two sisters, Oleta Davis of Mineral Wells, and Brenda Walden and husband Don of Weatherford; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers: Brian Taylor, Douglas Moffett, Gregory Jester, Jason Taylor, Dustin Moffett, Brandon Moffett, Travis McWhirter, Jonathan Moffett, and Braylon Moffett.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the funeral home.
