Visitation for Gloria Jean Hancock Elmore, 77, of Grand Saline, is scheduled for 1 p.m. - 3 p.m., Friday, January 5, 2023, at Bartley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Elmore passed away December 30, 2023, at her residence in Grand Saline. She was born January 4, 1946, in Pennsylvania, to Charles Raymond and Francis June Wise Hancock. She graduated from Tenaha High School, Class of 1964. She continued her education at Panola County Community College, studying music. On September 2, 1966, she married Luther Elmore in Dallas. She had lived the last 47 years in the Grand Saline and Fruitvale area. Gloria was a member of First Baptist Church in Fruitvale and was the pianist there for many years. She was a CNA, LVN, RN, and then a Med Aid, working at Anderson Nursing Home, Country Trails Nursing Home, and Cozby Germany Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 46 years, Luther Elmore; sister, Nettie Mae Lamb; two nieces, Heather Smart and Sonja Flores; and nephew, Michael Flores.
Survivors include her four sons, Dwain Elmore of Kaufman, Ray Elmore of Canton, Joe Elmore and wife Jodi of Tyler, and Terry Elmore of Gun Barrel; two daughters, Rena Elmore De La Rosa of Grand Saline and Millie Mould and husband Chan of Frisco; brother, Junior Hancock of Dallas; two sisters, Alice Smart and husband Rick of Humble and Shirley Flores and husband Manuel of Victoria; seventeen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
