Graveside Services for Ethel May Orr Denig, 88, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, March 28, 2026, at Creagleville Cemetery, with Pastor Jeremy Talley officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Denig passed away March 14, 2026, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She was born June 23, 1937, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to Wilbur Leroy and Mary Liddia Ott Orr. She married Harry Porter Denig on February 11, 1968, in Dallas, Texas. She served faithfully for many years by his side as a Pastor's wife in Arizona and graduated from Northland Pioneer College with a degree in music.
In 1981, they moved to Grand Saline. She worked for many years at Keep-U-Neat cleaners in Wills Point and operated her own alteration business for years thereafter. She was a devoted member of Grand Saline First Church of the Nazarene. Ethel loved the Lord supremely and faithfully served Him and the church with a caring heart in various roles, including teaching Sunday School, serving as Missions President, playing the piano, and serving on the church’s Board of Directors. She especially loved working with children through ministries such as Vacation Bible School.
Ethel is preceded in death by husband, Daniel Gough; her parents; husband of 43 years, Harry Denig; three daughters, Susan Elaine Gough, Marilyn Carpenter, and Beverly Bates Jones; sister, Elizabeth Wilson; infant grandchild, Phillip Bates; and sister-in-law, Gerri Orr.
Survivors include two sons, Daniel Denig (Jennifer) of Albuquerque, NM, and William Denig (Denise) of Murphy, TX; daughter, Debra Clower of Grand Saline; three brothers, David Orr of Ohio, Leroy Orr (Lola) of Washington, and Rick Orr (Sandra) of California; two sisters, Doris Bubnis of Washington, and Becky Ferguson (Todd) of Ohio; six grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorials may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 400 W Garland St, Grand Saline, TX 75140.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.
