Graveside services for Norma Jean Fite, 97, of Pasadena, Texas are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Sand Flat Cemetery, with Jerry Fite officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline, Texas. Visitation will be at 9 am, July 6, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Norma Jean Fite passed away June 29, 2024, at her home in Pasadena, Texas. She was born June 21, 1927, in Amarillo, Texas to Andrew Olan & Madge Darrell Freeman Guthrie. Norma graduated from Sunset High School, Dallas, Texas, Class of 1944. Norma had a wonderfully full life. Her priority was being a devoted wife and helper to her beloved Harold and being a caring mother. She was a faithful member of the Parkview church of Christ, in Pasadena, Texas.
Norma is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John Newton Guthrie; her sister, Jane Ellen Cole; and two grandchildren, Andrew Stewart, and Nicolas Stewart.
Survivors include her husband of 77 years, Harold Fite of Pasadena, Texas; her son, Jerry Fite and his wife, Kathy, of Pasadena, Texas ; her daughter, Christie Stewart and her husband Barry of Arlington, Texas ; her brother, Richard Olan “Dick” Guthrie of Arlington, Texas; her sister-in-law, Billie Guthrie of Edgewood, Texas; four grandchildren, Alicia Weir and her husband Derrick, Blake Fite, Maeretha Wilburn and her husband Cory, and Matthew Clayton and his wife, Jordana Stewart; Norma is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Norma embraced life with curious variety, manifesting a quick wit and an infectious sense of humor. She savored the beauty of God’s creation every time her eyes focused upon the varied colors of a floral garden. She enjoyed reading, painting, making things with her hands, and playing golf. She loved listening to music. She even made her own music by learning to play more than one instrument. Norma was a loyal fan to the local professional baseball and football teams near her residence. More importantly, she was faithful to the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She died unafraid, filled with hope in the Lord.
