Services for Jackie Rhea “Jack” Fleming, 86, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Caney Creek Cowboy Church, with Pastor Randy Edwards and Bro. Larry Mitchell officiating.
Interment will follow at Bridges Chapel Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Jack Fleming passed away on January 14, 2025, in Tyler, Texas. He was born on January 12, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, to Andrew J. and Clara Rhea Fleming.
Jack graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1957 and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for two years. After his service, he moved to Dallas, where he married the love of his life, Jerri Ann Wright. The couple lived in Dallas until 1972, when they relocated to Royce City.
Jack had a diverse and fulfilling career, working for Continental Airlines, serving as a deputy for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, and later joining AT&T (formerly Western Electric), where he remained until his retirement in 1990. Of all his roles, he found particular joy in his time as a deputy, embracing the camaraderie and purpose of law enforcement.
After retiring, Jack and Jerri settled in Grand Saline in 2006. Jack was an active member of Caney Creek Cowboy Church, where he shared his love for horses and the outdoors. He volunteered at Cheyenne Frontier Days for twelve years in Cheyenne, WY. Jack was a man who genuinely loved people and cherished his family.
Jack was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, James Fleming, and Rufus Fleming; and brother-in-law, Charles Wright.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Jerri Fleming of Grand Saline; son, Billy Fleming and Amber Blakley of Lott; grandchild, Dillon Fleming of Georgetown; sister-in-law, Peggy Wright; nephew, Eric Wright and wife Suzie of Austin; three nieces, Cindy Strickland and husband William of Tioga, Becky Fleming of Mesquite, and Kim Dill and husband Jay of Ft. Worth; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joe Burlbaugh, Lane Garland, Blaine Mosley, Jimmy Pickens, Kyle Humphrey, and Andy Dickerson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ron Tucker, Brad Mosley, Butch Grier, and David McDonald.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
