Floretta Wells

Services for Floretta Wells, 94, of Allen, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at Bartley Funeral Home in Grand Saline.

Interment will follow at Yantis Cemetery in Yantis.

Floretta Birchfield Wells passed away on July 18, 2026, in Allen. She was born on March 21, 1932, in Winnsboro to Thomas Jefferson and Ruby Della Blystone Birchfield. She graduated from Lewisville High School and spent most of her life in the Garland area before moving to Grand Saline 35 years ago upon retiring from Texas Instruments after 35 years of service.

Floretta was a member of Sand Flat Baptist Church, the "CroKnitters" crochet club at Cheatham Memorial Methodist Church in Edgewood, and served as secretary of the Van Zandt County Sheriff's Posse for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 73 years, Lee Roy Wells; and her son-in-law, Robert "Bob" Tast.

Survivors include her two daughters, Pat Tast of Allen and Penny Dabbs and husband Damon of Garland; her sister, Vondell Williams of Hacker, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Christy Ogle and Brandon Dabbs; one great-granddaughter, Allison Ogle; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Damon Dabbs, Brandon Dabbs, and Curtis Moore.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at the funeral home.
