John Fuller

November 24, 1941 — November 2, 2019

John Ira Fuller was born November 24, 1941 in Dallas, Texas to JB and Ethel Fuller. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1961 and then joined the US Marines.
He married Brenda Poynor on November 7, 1970. They lived in Dallas and Duncanville until 1982 when they moved their family to Grand Saline. He retired from General Motors after a career of thirty plus years. John loved the outdoors and was most often found either on his tractor or taking care of his pecan trees. When he had to be indoors he loved to read or watch any sporting event he could find on TV.
John and Brenda were avid travelers, taking trips to every state in the US as well as many countries. He enjoyed camping with his family in state and national parks usually around a scuba diving competition.
John was an active member of Crossroads Church in Canton. Prior to Crossroads he taught various adult Sunday school classes alongside Brenda for many years at Main Street Baptist Church in Grand Saline.
After retiring he spent his time serving others through several ministries. He had a passion for sharing Jesus with everyone he met, from locals to cruise mates, to fellow travelers. John and Brenda shared a love for ministering to prisoners through Bill Glass Behind The Walls, where together they participated in over 200 events across the nation. In the late 1990s John started a ministry holding weekly Bible Study with kids in the Van Zandt County Juvenile Detention Center and rarely missed a Sunday visit. John and Brenda also served with the Disaster Relief Ministry of the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention. They both served as chaplains and John was on the chainsaw team.
John was able to spend his last day on earth doing what he loved, sharing Jesus with inmates at the Hutchins Unit.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years Brenda Fuller; daughter Sarah Graham, husband Delane and grandsons Will and Jack; son Clint Fuller, wife Susan and granddaughters Ava and Olivia; son Curt Fuller, wife Missy and grandson Levi; son Ira Fuller and wife Tukta and grandson Tyler; daughter Melissa Amato and husband Fred, grandsons Jeramy, Jonathan, and Austin, and granddaughters, Teah, Anna, and Alaina; and son, Troy Fuller and wife Lori.
