MINEOLA – Funeral services for Charles Denny Garrett, 88, of Mineola, are scheduled for Thursday, January 19, 2017, at Wilson Bartley Funeral Home Chapel, Alba, with Chaplain David Hicks officiating.
Cremation arrangements will be under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mr. Garrett passed away Thursday, January 12, 2017, in a Mineola nursing home.
He was born Monday, August 20, 1928, in Muncie, Indiana, to the late Gordon and Nola James Garrett. He married Mary Elizabeth McIntire on July 4, 1948, in Muncie, Indiana. He lived most of his life in Columbus, GA and moved to Emory in 1998. Charles was a Pentecostal pastor for 55 years.
Survivors include his two daughters, Kay Ellis of Mineola and Lila Nelson of Mineola; one brother; three sisters; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 51 years, Mary Elizabeth Garrett; two brothers; and daughter, Darlene Ord.
Family visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. prior to the funeral on Thursday.
