Tommy Garrett

Services for Mr. Tommy Garrett, 76, of Fruitvale, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Crossroads Church of Christ, 2224 VZCR 1806, Grand Saline, TX, 75140, with Don Cannon and Fred Cooper officiating.

Interment will follow in Creagleville Cemetery.

Mr. Tommy Allen Garrett passed away April 10, 2024, at his home in Fruitvale. He was born November 3, 1947, in Kaufman County to Leslie Lee & Lottie Jewel Nixon Garrett. He was raised in Scurry and graduated from Scurry-Rosser High School, Class of 1966. Tommy moved to Fruitvale 55 years ago where he served over 20 years on the Board of Directors for Fruitvale Water Supply and as a board member on the Fruitvale ISD School Board. He worked for over 40 years at Hawkins Nursery in Grand Saline. Tommy was a member of Crossroads Church of Christ. He loved his grandchildren, and especially enjoyed loving on his great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Lester Garrett, Paul Garrett, and Robert Garrett; and two sisters, Eva McNeil, and Mittie Jo Stewart.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Sue Garrett of Fruitvale; son, Jeffrey Garrett and wife Molly of Fruitvale; daughter, Kelly Green and husband David of Fruitvale; sister, Catherine “Cat” Kridler of Canton; eight grandchildren, Anna Ayers, Brandi Bishop, Sophie Lane (Eric), Chaz Grimes (Emily), Landon Williams, Jessie Jackson, Shane Green, and Shelbie Strong; five great-grandchildren, Nate, Madison, Nellie, Kipp, and Easton; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Garrett, Chaz Grimes, Eric Lane, Landon Williams, David Green, and Ronnie Wayne Nation.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Smith, Larry Crawford, Johnny Baldwin, and Paul Nicholas.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 12, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.
