GREENVILLE – Memorial services for Naomi Jeanne Whitlock Gates, 70, of Greenville, will be held at a later date by the family and church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mrs. Gates passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at her residence in Greenville.
Naomi was born Wednesday, September 10, 1947, in Greenville, to the late James Harvey and Naomi Gary Whitlock. She married Dalton Dee Gates on June 2, 1976, in Ardmore, OK. She worked in real estate and lived most of her life in Greenville. She was a member of the Park Street Baptist Church in Greenville.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Dalton Gates of Greenville; sons, James Smith of Greenville and Dalton Gates, Jr. of Greenville; daughter, Mandy Jean and husband Aaron Hyden of Greenville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, George Smith, Jr.; brothers, Gary Whitlock and Charles Whitlock; and grandson, Jonathan Smith.
