Mrs. Geneva Deneta Mayton Cochran, 82, of Hawkins, passed away on May 18, 2026, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on October 27, 1943, in Hope, Arkansas, to Robert O’Neal Mayton and Ethel Marie Vaughn Mayton.

On June 23, 1961, Deneta married the love of her life, Robert Andrew Cochran, in Eureka, California. She had made Hawkins her home for the past 42 years and was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness.

Deneta was a loving mother and an even more cherished “Nanny.” She enjoyed cooking, caring for her flower beds, and spending time singing, playing the guitar and piano. Her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 33 years, Robert Cochran; eight brothers; and one sister.

Survivors include her two sons, Robert L. Cochran of Hawkins and Randy Cochran of Georgetown; two daughters, Karen Sowell and husband James of Emory, and Kelley Sullivan of Hawkins; her brother, Roy Mayton and wife Kim of Hope, Arkansas; eight grandchildren, April Spatola, Casey Kirbo, Lindsey McKeown, Corey Cochran, Emily Cochran, Hunter Cochran, Heaven Nabors, and Danny Nabors, Jr.; six great-grandchildren, Tony Spatola, Jr., R.J. Bailey, Aiden Bailey, Amy McKeown, Celestia Jones, and Elijah Nabors; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
