Glenn Woodrum, 68, of Fruitvale, passed away June 26, 2026, in a Dallas hospital. He was born on December 19, 1957, in Dallas, to Clifford Glenn and Bonnie Agnus Hope Woodrum.
Glenn spent his early years at Lake Texoma before moving to Grand Saline, where he graduated from Grand Saline High School in 1976. He spent most of his life in the Grand Saline and Fruitvale area, where he was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.
Glenn dedicated his life to serving others. When Peggy met him 32 years ago, she found a man whose heart was defined by compassion, courage, and selflessness. He proudly served as both a paramedic and firefighter, always willing to answer the call when others needed help. He also spent many years working in industrial and commercial construction and served as Paint Yard Supervisor for Latshaw Drilling from 2005 to 2015. No matter where life took him, Glenn was known as a hardworking man who gave his all to his family, his work, and his community.
In May 2012, Glenn’s life changed when he was diagnosed with Stage IV left tonsil cancer that had spread to 11 lymph nodes. Doctors gave him less than a 10% chance of survival, but Glenn refused to let those odds define him. With incredible determination, he endured 39 radiation treatments and beat cancer, giving his family nearly eight more precious years filled with love, laughter, and memories they will cherish forever.
In 2020, the long-term effects of radiation brought a new and heartbreaking battle. Glenn endured 19 major surgeries, numerous additional procedures, countless hospital stays and even survived a devastating superbug infection contracted during rehabilitation. Through every setback, he faced each day with remarkable strength and unwavering courage.
Since August 2020, Glenn has lived with extraordinary challenges. He became tracheostomy-dependent, lost his lower jaw, relied on a feeding tube, and was no longer able to eat or speak clearly. Yet even in the face of unimaginable hardship, his love for his family never wavered. His resilience, determination, and quiet strength inspired everyone who knew him.
After years of fighting with unmatched courage, Glenn peacefully passed away, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and perseverance that will never be forgotten. He was a devoted husband, loving father, firefighter, protector, and true warrior.
Glenn was preceded in death by his mother, Bonnie Williams; his brother, Mike Woodrum; and his father-in-law, Dallas Hancock.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Peggy Woodrum of Fruitvale; his father, Clifford Woodrum (Carolee) of Mineola; mother-in-law, Vada Hancock; his son, Kevin Glenn Woodrum (Sarita) of Fruitvale; two daughters, Lori Lea (Jimmy) of Bonham and Traci Woodrum of Portland; his brother, Kevin Woodrum (Kay) of Grand Saline; two sisters, Tammie Woodrum (Savannah) of Fruitvale and Paula Winstead (Buddy) of Grand Saline; five grandchildren, Stone Lea, Avery Lea, Aidan Burt, Jack Yates, and Korben Yates; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing Glenn’s suffering has ended and that he is finally at peace. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched, the family he cherished, and the example of courage and unconditional love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
The family will have a Celebration of Life at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Main Street Baptist Church.
