Services for Delbert Lee Goggans, 60 of Alba, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, October 1, 2011 at Main Street Baptist Church with Bro. Bert Fite and Pastor Mike Tummilo officiating under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Mr. “Del” Goggans passed away September 28, 2011 in a Tyler hospice facility. He was born December 13, 1950 in Grand Saline to Carl G. & Annie Mae Monk Goggans. He spent his early years in Grand Saline and moved various places throughout Texas with his career in coaching and teaching before moving to Alba four years ago. Mr. Goggans had been a High School Principal and then the administrator for Azalea Trails Nursing Home for several years. Del touched many lives while working as a teacher, coach, principal and nursing home administrator. He went out of his way to help people and always found the good in those surrounding him. Del loved spending time with family and friends, fishing, hunting and cooking for others. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Carl Wayne Goggans; and step-father, Ray Brown.
Survivors include his wife of the heart, Marsha Thibodeaux of Grand Saline; four daughters and sons-in-law, Jami & Dale Caulkins of Flushing, MI, Mandi & John Cheslock of Leander, Katie Goggans of Van and Courtney Goggans of Van; brother and sister-in-law, Terry & Pat Goggans of Alba; sister-in-law, Vickie Goggans of Grand Saline; six grandchildren, Katelyn, Cassidy, Caroline, Holden, Lauren and Brady; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Hospitality House at MD Anderson, www.mdanderson.org.
The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
