Iona “Granny Sam” Blevins Griffith
ALBA– Services for Iona “Granny Sam” Blevins Griffith, 95, of Alba, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, November 13, 2016, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home’s chapel, with Bro. Kelly Burton officiating.
Burial will be in Pilgrim Rest #2 Cemetery, Golden, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Mrs. Griffith passed away Thursday, November 10, 2016, at a nursing home in Azle, Texas.
She was born Saturday, June 4, 1921, in South Irving, Kentucky, to the late Florence and Hume Blevins. She married James Alford Griffith on November 20, 1941, in Mobile, Alabama. Granny Sam moved from Elm Mott to Alba and lived here for 18 years and moved to Azle in 2011. She and her husband worked in Meals on Wheels Ministry for many years. Iona was a member of the First Baptist Church of Azle and a previous member of First Baptist Church of Alba.
Survivors include her sons, Phillip Earl & Nancy Griffith of Lakeside and Teddy Wayne & Sally Griffith of Sulphur Springs; sisters, A.B. (Mickey) Steward of Pensacola, Florida and Debbie Ditto of Semmes, Alabama; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James Alford Griffith; brothers, Paul Blevins and J.W. Blevins; sisters, Dottie McCord and Roberta Flynn; and sons, James Paul Griffith and Jeffery Mark Griffith.
Family visitation will be Saturday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
