Junior Harris

Services for Junior Harris, 91, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, January 26, 2024, at Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Donnie Herring officiating.

Interment will follow in Woodside Cemetery.

Mr. Harris passed away January 23, 2024, in Quitman. He was born November 30, 1932, in Breckenridge, TX, to John Fletcher and Verta Starkey Harris. On March 1, 1952, he married Effie Brown in Grand Saline. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Junior lived all his life in Grand Saline. He owned and operated a full-service filling station and tire shop for 51 years, the most recent being, Harris Pit Stop in Grand Saline. He was a former member of Bible Baptist Church in Grand Saline and currently attending Riverside Mission Church. Junior was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 66 years, Effie Brown Harris; son, Ray Harris; brother, A.W. Harris; and granddaughter, Kelly Nicole Harris.

Survivors include his son, John Harris and wife Barbara of Grand Saline; two sisters-in-law, Betty Brown of Terrell and Patsy Harris of Grand Saline; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Denton, Jed Yarbrough, Jackie Perritt, Johnny Stephens, Daniel Brown, and Harry Clifford.

The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home.
