Grand Saline
Services for Mr. Harold Dean Herring, 68, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, September 8, 2014 at Bartley Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Herring and Sis. Delana Wheeler officiating.
Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery.
Mr. Herring passed away September 5, 2014 in a Tyler hospital. He was born November 25, 1945 in Grand Saline to James William Andrew & Alley Delora Hilton Herring. He spent his early years in Grand Saline, lived 20 years in Dallas County and then his last 30 years back in Grand Saline. Dean was a master plumber and an auto mechanic. He served in the U.S. Marines with two tours in Vietnam. He was a member of VFW Post 6969 in Dallas where he served as Sergeant at Arms and Post Commander. Dean was the baby of the family, but was one of the strongest and wisest in years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Kay Herring; sons, James Dean Herring and Eddie Ray Williams; daughter, Pamela Kay Fincher; sisters, Ruth Ann Klusmeyer, Cleo Tipton and Viola Scoggins; brothers, Homer, Olen, Louie, Ray, Benny, Arvil, Don, and Larry; and two sets of twin siblings.
Survivors include his grandchildren, Ashley Thompson and husband Jason Lee of Mineola, James Matthew Herring of Grand Saline, Michelle Renee Brand and husband James Russell Brand of Fruitvale, and 13 additional grandchildren; son, David Paul Harris of Grand Saline; daughter, Linda Claire Husband of Richardson; sister, Mary Ruth Skinner of Grand Saline; two brothers, William “Billy” Herring of Grand Saline and Kenneth Dale Williams and wife Sybil of Grand Saline; sister-in-law, Deloris Langston of Grand Saline; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Jason Lee Thompson, James Russell Brand, Richard Morgan, Jeramey McGuire, Eddie Ray Williams, Jr and Randy Don Wheeler.
The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
