Tom Hill

Memorial services for Thomas George “Tom” Hill, 88, of Grand Saline, are scheduled for 1 p.m., Thursday, September 1, 2022, at New Horizons Assembly of God Church, with Bro. Randy Fisher officiating, under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home, Grand Saline.

Mr. Hill passed away August 25, 2022, in Tyler. He was born December 15, 1933, in Broken Bow, Nebraska, to James Daniel and Margaret McEwen Hill. On August 15, 1954, he married Mary Jane O’Dell in Flora, Illinois. Tom lived in Duncanville prior to moving to Grand Saline. He was a great husband, dad, and grandfather. He enjoyed volunteering for the Grand Saline Main Street Program and was a member of New Horizons Assembly of God Church. Tom placed his faith and trust in Jesus Christ as a young man and that faith in the Lord guided him each day. He loved Jesus with all of his heart. He spent a lot of time devouring God’s Word in an expository way and had a gift for knowing and sharing the right Scripture for any situation. Tom had a unique ability to wake each morning with an attitude of kindness and humility, with praise and worship for his Heavenly Father. He had eternal Hope in his heart and encouraging words on his lips. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry Neal Hill.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Hill of Grand Saline; son, Dan Hill and wife Lisa of Decatur; daughter, Pam Jones and husband Greg of Grand Saline; sister, Peggy Sullivan of Grand Island, Nebraska; two grandchildren, Tiffany Hopwood and husband Jacob and Lindsay Mordecai and husband Chris; four great-grandchildren, Daniel, Matthew, Claire, and Ellie; and numerous other relatives and friends.
