ALBA – Services for Willard Henry Hofmeister, 88, of Alba, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 27, 2014, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home chapel, Alba, with Arlon Ragsdale officiating.
Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Alba.
Mr. Hofmeister passed away Tuesday, December 23, 2014, in a Sunnyvale hospital.
He was born Thursday, October 14, 1926, in Haxtun, Colorado, to the late Dan E. and Gladys Hofmeister. He was a mail carrier at the age of 15. He graduated from Holyoke High School in 1944, and joined the Navy at age 17. He served during World War II on the USS Kula Gulf CVE 108. He married Neilia Bresler in October, 1981, and owned a grocery store in Colorado. He had lived in Alba since 1993. He was a farmer, raising cattle. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion Post 90 in Holyoke, Colorado, and Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Neilia Hofmeister of Alba; sons, Dan Hofmeister of Cumby, Ryan Hofmeister of Sterling, Colorado, Terry Hofmeister of Amherst, Colorado, and John Hofmeister of Austin; daughters, Pam Ertle of Sterling, Colorado, Billie Deel of Alba, and Sally Hofmeister of Waco; sister and spouse, Nelda and Dale O’Neal of Holyoke, Colorado; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dale Hofmeister, Melvin Hofmeister, and Raymond Hofmeister.
Pallbearers are Dan Hofmeister, Ryan Hofmesiter, Terry Hofmeister, John Hofmeister, Bryan Deel, and Joseph Bennight.
