Mr. Michael Wayne Horner, 73, passed away January 5, 2024. He was born July 1, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, to Carlos Horner & Mary Hostrawser Horner. Michael’s early years were in Clinton Missouri with his Mother Mary & Stepfather Paul Webb, when Michael was an early teenage boy he went to Dyersburg, Tennessee to stay with his dad. Michael went to school in Dyersburg where he graduated from Dyersburg High School. After high school, he served in the National Guard, worked in insurance sales, and attended BTI Bible college in Cleveland, TN.
Michael moved his family to the Jackson, Mississippi area (Clinton, MS) in 1971, and started a remodeling and construction company. He also joined the Volunteer Fire Department there. He went to Paramedic school to become a paramedic and had his SCUBA license to do rescue & recovery. He worked as a deputy at the Sheriff’s department and really enjoyed his time while he served the County where he lived. One of Michael’s dreams was to fly so he got his pilot’s license and enjoyed his time above the clouds when he was flying, Michael had many hobbies and among those was his love for music. Michael was in several different Gospel Quartet’s and would write and sing many songs that he wrote while playing the guitar.
He lived in Clinton, MS, until 2001, when he moved to the DFW area. He started another construction remodeling business in McKinney TX doing various types of work for both Commercial and residential clients.
Michael loved the Lord and his family deeply; He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior at a young age of 12. He is now in heaven his eternal home with our Lord Jesus.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Timothy Webb.
Survivors include his longtime companion, Penny Brown; Daughter Jennifer Horner-Hall, Three sons, Jeffrey Horner, Joshua Horner, and Stephen Horner: Brother Dennis Horner; two sisters, Ruth Different, and Diane Ouimet; ten grandchildren, Maddox, Jarrett, Oaklynn, Brock, Rhett, Maci, Trevor, Aligrace, Tatum and Alice; two great-grandchildren, Waverly, and Paul; and numerous other relatives, cousins, and friends.
Memorials in memory of Michael may be made to the charity of your choice.
A Memorial service will be held for Michael on Saturday, January 20th at 2pm at Oakview Baptist Church 3400 Kimbell Rd, Terry MS 39170.
