Marie Horton

Graveside services for Marie Knight Horton, 90, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Monday, October 26, 2020 at Woodside Cemetery under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.

Mrs. Horton passed away October 20, 2020 in Richardson where she had been living to be near family. She was born October 31, 1929 in Grand Saline, Texas to Henry Milton and Alma Jewel Bolin Knight. She had lived in Grand Saline for most of her life but had also resided in San Antonio, Midland and Tulsa, OK. She was an upstanding member of Grand Saline First Church of the Nazarene where she had served on their church board. Marie cherished being a pastor’s wife before the loss of her first husband in San Antonio in 1955. Marie loved books and enjoyed teaching school beginning in 1956 until she settled as a librarian with Grand Saline ISD, retiring in the late 90’s.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kenneth Donald Horton, an infant sister and her daughter-in-law and the mother of Kenny’s children, Starla Hand Horton. Survivors include her two sons, Kenneth D. Horton Jr. “Kenny” and wife Diane of Tyler, and John F. Williams Jr. and wife Robbie of Richardson; five grandchildren, Stacy Ann Horton, Elizabeth Horton Walter and husband Lowell, Emma Marie Williams, Hannah Grace Williams and Jackson Hunter Williams; great-grandchild, Kathryn Grace Walter; former husband and father of John, John F. Williams, Sr. of Duncanville; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Grand Saline First church of the Nazarene, 400 W. Garland St., Grand Saline TX 75140.

The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m., Sunday October 25, 2020 at the funeral home.
