Services for Hoyt Ray Hollowell, 78, of Winnsboro, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba.
Interment will follow in Salem Cemetery, Alba.
Mr. Hollowell found his peace on June 21, 2026, at his home in Winnsboro. Hoyt was born on January 15, 1948, in Durant, Oklahoma, to Junior Ray and Mary Nell Gibbs Hollowell. On February 12, 1971, he married the love of his life, Carrol Jean Miller, in Mesquite, Texas. Together they built a blended family that included Ricky, Charles, Lisa, Christine, L’Annette, Cassandra, Tommy, David, and their only child together, Becky Hollowell Miller.
Eighteen years ago, Hoyt and Carrol moved from Mesquite to Winnsboro, where they made their home. He was a member of Edgemount Park Baptist Church and was known for his deep love of music. An accomplished steel guitar and fiddle player, Hoyt found great joy in sharing his musical talents. He was also an active member of the Ham Radio Group and enjoyed building race cars and drag racing.
Throughout his life, Hoyt worked in several trades, including mechanic work, paint and body repair, security, and computer-related services. He was respected for his strong work ethic, practical skills, and willingness to help others.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Patricia Miers.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 55 years, Carrol Jean Miller of Winnsboro; his son, David Hollowell of the Dallas–Fort Worth area; his daughter, Becky Hollowell Miller and husband Curtis of Winnsboro; his sisters, Debbie Akers of Arlington and Terry Sengbush and husband Larry of Cedar Hill; his brothers-in-law, Mark Miller and wife Debbie of Sulphur Springs and Harold Miller of Fate; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Hoyt will be remembered for his love of family, music, faith, and friendship. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Hollowell-Jackson, Collin Miller, Mike Miller, Cory Miller, Caleb Mabry, and Chance Orr.
Honorary pallbearer Gage Hollowell-Jackson.
The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Friday, before the service.
