Retha Faye Carroll Hughes
GOLDEN – Funeral services for Retha Faye Carroll Hughes, 72, of Golden, are scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, February 9, 2018, at Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church, Golden, under the direction of Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, with Bro. Jim Parker and Doug Douglas officiating.
Mrs. Hughes passed away Sunday, February 4, 2018, in Grand Saline.
She was born Monday, May 21, 1945, in Grand Saline, to the late Eugene Stanley and Retha Dorothy Nance Carroll. She married Larry Curtis Hughes on July 1, 1967, in Grand Saline. Faye lived in Golden most of her life and was a member of Pilgrim Rest #2 Baptist Church, Golden, where she served as church organist. She volunteered as a Supervisor for Pilgrim Rest Christian Academy and later worked for Hughes Appliance in Mineola for many years.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Larry Hughes of Golden; daughter, Pam and husband Doug Douglas of Cedar Park, and granddaughter, Kylie; son-in-law, Joel Vaughn of Alba, and grandsons, Colt, Dakota, and Brannon; brothers, Ellis and wife Dottie Carroll of Edgewood, Doug and wife Anita Carroll of Fruitvale, and Orvin Carroll of Alba; and numerous other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Vaughn; and brothers, Loy Carroll and Sammy Carroll.
Pallbearers will be Cody Harpold, Mitchell Harpold, Jacob Gonzalez, Nick Gonzalez, Adrian Gonzalez, Ryan Gonzalez, and Jack Allen.
Family visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
