Dr. Richard Ingrim

Dr. Richard Lynn Ingrim, 77, of Grand Saline, passed away November 22, 2020, in Tyler. He was born April 8, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas, to Clarence Houston & Eileen Leona Knowles Ingrim. Dr. Ingrim was raised in Wichita, KS with 2 brothers and one sister. He worked early while in high school at a yard service, a grocery store, and a granary shoveling wheat. He was a Boy Scout and earned their highest award of Eagle Scout. After graduating in 1961, Rick attended Kansas State for one year before moving to Texas and working at Sears. The world became unsettled and Rick joined the US Army and served from 1964-1967 as a Green Beret paratrooper and a medic for the 5th Special Forces group. He received the bronze star for the time he served in Vietnam. After Vietnam, he realized that his calling was in the medical field and came back to Dallas working in patient services at Methodist hospital while attending UT Arlington. In 1969, he met Diane Schreiber at Methodist hospital and they were married on September 19, 1970 after she graduated from nursing school. They moved to Morelia, Mexico in 1973 where he continued his education. He came back to the US to do a Family Medicine residency in Shawnee, OK through the University of Oklahoma. Upon completion in 1984, Rick, Diane, Ryan, Holly, and Zack moved to Grand Saline, TX to begin his private practice Family Medicine Clinic. In 1988, he built and opened Country Trails Care Center. Dr. Ingrim served for many years as Cozby-Germany hospital’s Medical Director. He retired from his office practice in January 2018 but continued working in hospice care. Rick had a love for gardening and just about anything else he could do on his tractor. He spent a lot of time with and watching any and all activities his grandkids, Ellie, Asher, and Brooks were in. Rick was a member of First United Methodist Church and their Pairs and Spares Sunday school class. He was a Scoutmaster for many years in the Boy Scouts Troop 374 and helped many attain their Eagle Scout award. Dr. Ingrim was a member of East Texas Paratrooper Association. He cared a great deal about and was dedicated to his patients, family, and friends.
Dr. Ingrim was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Jimmy Charles & Carrie Janell Schreiber; and brother-in-law, Jim Collom.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Diane Ingrim of Grand Saline; two sons, Ryan Ingrim of Chicago, IL and Zachary Ingrim of Dallas; daughter, Holly Hawkins and husband Jerami of Van; two brothers, Jim Ingrim and wife Rosalie of Florissant, MO and Dennis Ingrim and wife Sylvia of Irving; sister, Judy Collom of Wichita, KS; three grandchildren, Ellie, Asher, and Brooks Hawkins; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Ryan Ingrim, Zachary Ingrim, Jerami Hawkins, Asher Hawkins, Brooks Hawkins, and Joe Schreiber.

A public visitation will be held 9 a.m. – 7 p.m., Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Bartley Funeral Home.
