Janice Jo Batchelder

Memorial services for Janice Jo Janes Batchelder, 86, of Mineola, are scheduled for 2 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2025, at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home, Alba, with Bro. Brad Hindman officiating.

Mrs. Batchelder passed away November 24, 2025, in Mineola. She was born December 24, 1938, in Decatur, Illinois, to Joseph Arthur and Elizabeth Sams Janes.

On July 29, 1956, Janice married the love of her life, Charles Michael Batchelder, in Decatur. They made their home in Warrensburg, Illinois, for many years before moving to Mineola in 1988. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.

She was a devoted member of Harvest Acres Baptist Church in Mineola, where her strong Christian faith was evident to all who knew her. She prayed faithfully for her family and was a constant source of comfort, encouragement, and warmth. She enjoyed watching cooking shows on television and was known for her wonderful sense of humor. Janice also had a special fondness for her beloved cat, Maggie, who brought her tremendous joy.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years, Charles Batchelder; and sister Sondra Lougee.

Survivors include her two sons, Philip Batchelder and wife Bobbi of Warrensburg, IL, and Stanford Batchelder and wife Lisa of Mineola; two daughters, Patricia Cullison and husband Dennis of Hawkins and Nancy Batchelder of Mineola; eleven grandchildren, Christy and Kenny, Mike, James, Chris, Steven, Jacob and Annie, Megan, Emily, Elizabeth and Nace, Allie Jo, and Christian and Karly; eight great-grandchildren; adopted daughter; Shana Burge of Mineola; adopted son, Jay Mattson of Mineola; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Janice will be remembered as a loving wife, cherished family member, and dear friend, whose kindness and gentle spirit touched many lives.
